I’m a bit neurotic. I am. I have been known to get halfway down the street (replaying the morning in my mind) and trying to remember if I turned off the stove, heater, unplugged the curling iron, or left the grill on. And I’ve also been known to turn around, on more than one occasion.
I can’t help it, it’s who I am – I love my puppies and I worry.
Because – and not to be Debbie Downer here – but if anything were to happen – they’re all I care about getting out (providing My Jamie is out as well).
Because they don’t have thumbs.
So, once I know they’re ok, what next?
My computer and all the family photos I can grab.
Which makes me wonder; if you had ONE material possession to grab from your house – just one thing you can take with you for whatever reason – and nothing else, what is it? What would you absolutely not be able to live without?
The first thing that comes to mind for me, is my pictures.
They are the one thing we hold on to, to show our families, our children, and one day pass down to our grandchildren. Often times, it’s photos like these that cannot be replaced – and therefore we protect and cherish them even more. My grandparents have albums upon albums of photos that go back to before they were even a twinkle in their parents’ eye. They’re amazing and old, and protected behind that plastic sheet because they’re falling apart, they’re like small treasures.
We save these things because we value them so much. We value our family and the memories we shared, or maybe didn’t share because we were too young to remember just yet. But, we want to see our Grandma one more time with that amazing up-do and hat (with every outfit) and our grandpa’s in their suits with suspenders and hats that we secretly wish today’s men would still dress like![]()
Or maybe that’s just me?
I do love those hats.
And I do love taking photos, and I want nothing more than to continue to grow in the photography world and help bring memories to my clients that they will value and cherish for years come.
Because when it comes down to it, a photo is simply a memory caught on film.
Ok, I’m stepping down off of my box now…and because every post is better with a little visual…

From a recent Holiday family session in an UH-MAY-ZING location
I can’t post any more from this one, just yet – since they’ll be used for their Holiday cards – but after Christmas – I’ll have the full post up!!!
Just love this little man.
Just love.
