Pinterest Pin Project #1 | San Diego Photographer

It all started when we got engaged.

I started to google. I googled a gazillion different details of things I wanted for our wedding, and I kept coming back to one place.

Pinterest.com is now the least favorite term of every man that has a crafty wife, fiance, girlfriend, sister, mother, or friend. He knows that anything that follows after ‘I saw this great idea on Pinterest’ means a new weekend project for him as well…

But, besides that, It’s a playground for great ideas for everything you could ever need for creating anything and everything you could think of…ever!

I’ve been pinning for a while now, when it occurred to me that I haven’t actually done anything with my pins yet. I have all these great ideas just sitting there and I’ve done nothing with them, poor lil’ guys.  So, I’m changing that. I’m going to make or create one pinterest project each week and blog it!:)

This week potatoes really sounded good. I saw a great recipe for a unique style of potato and gave it a shot the other night

You start by slicing the potato about 3/4 of the way through, this is easier said than done. I didn’t cut all the way through, but I would definitely say cut as far through as you can with as thing of slices as you can manage.

Preheat the oven to 425.

Drizzle with butter (or smother, whichever you like:)), olive oil, salt, and pepper and cook for 40 minutes. I actually cooked it for a bit longer….

I think they were in the oven for about 50  minutes when we took them out. They were definitely cooked all the way through, but they just weren’t quite as crispy as I wanted them. So, we’ll have to make them again soon!:)I think next time I’ll take a slice out, on every other cut so it can really get crispy and flaky.

By the end, they were flaking apart better and had a subtle butter flavor  (wasn’t overpowering at all), with just a touch of crispy on the top.  All in all, a cozy side to any Fall meal. Did I mention how hard it is to cut through a potato without cutting all the way through?

Project #2 will be up next week! I haven’t decided if it will be a home project or another fun food project… stay tuned:)
