Big Bear Trip 2011 | San Diego Photographer

We don’t take trips very often, but we always talk about places we’ll go and see over the next few years before we really settle in. Jamie has been wanting to take a weekend away and do something different. Different being Big Bear! I don’t think I’ve been there, at least not anytime I can remember. So, this was pretty much my first time there.  We left on Friday night and stopped at a yummy Mexican food restaurant somewhere off the freeway before we got into the hills. Then it was all windy roads and headlights for the next hour or so.

When we finally arrived, we took a super rocky dirt road…I was so excited to drive through that with the new car! haha We’ll be bringing the truck, for sure, next time. We found the place, I parked while Jamie went in to unlock the door and turn on a light.

Thing was, the key wasn’t working. This was the spot? But it wasn’t working…panic started to set in. We went around to the front and tried to find another door that might fit our key. No luck. Ok, GPS said we were here…but as we shown our flashlight on the house, we realized we were at the wrong place. Thank goodness. Thank goodness it was the wrong place (it wasn’t that great), and thank goodness no one was home!.

We continued on, and found it.

A super cute blue and white cabin with everything we’d ever need, and it was actually pretty warm inside! It had its’ own little quircks..

The owner of the cabin is actually a client of my Fiance, and he offered it to us for a weekend or two! He’s also a surfer, if you notice the stained glass:)We loved it!

I wanted to grab a picture of us on our first night. So I set my timer and ran back over. It didn’t occur to me until later to put my other timer on, but I still like the out come of this one:)You can see the movement. The next image is what we were looking at.

The sky completely full of stars! completely! It was so beautiful.

Painting with light. Looks like the house next to us was empty too. Kind of cool…kind of creepy. Scary movies have ruined me for any and all camping and cabin trips..

I’m marrying this man in 10 months.

I have not doubt that our children will behave just like this one day…I’m in for it:)

Our first trip with the new car! It was great, though for rocky terrain purposes, next time we’ll bring the truck:)

Yes, he is very strong.

One of my favorites. I ran across the road a few times. The light on the highway was so gorgeous!!

We kept driving and found a gorgeous field with a row of  orange and yellow trees. Out comes the tripod!

Next we headed out to the chair lift….thing. I’ve never been on one before, and there’s a reason. I’m not the biggest fan of heights. This was one of the few pictures I took while sitting on the chair. There was a point when it stopped, and that point happened to be in the middle of the highest point of the ride.

I held on…for my life.

Oh, look! The side of the hill, with a very safe height drop, in case tragedy struck.

Here is part of the reason people should not be suspended by chairs in the middle of the air. Look, the wire is just being pinched! Just a pinch is holding it all up!! ?

Once we made it to the top, it was gorgeous. So so gorgeous. We could see everything!

We headed back down and enjoyed a great night at an Italian restaurant in The Village. We had the BEST artichoke heart appetizers. So yum. We drew our future house on a napkin. Pinterest has given me a ton of ideas and I have the first floor of our future-future-future house 96% complete. And I have a folded up napkin to prove it:)
