Though they say you have to stop looking back to move forward, sometimes you have to peek back at where you’ve been, to see where you are going next.
2011 was one of the happiest years of my life and if you’ve followed my blog, you’ll know 2012 is going to be even better!
Here’s a look back at the great moments of 2011 and what’s to come in the next 12 months.
2011 Memories
1. Met and had an awesome summer second shooting with Nicole Angelo. I can’t say enough about how much I love working with her, making a new local friend in the industry, and how much I learned at each wedding.
2. Got engaged! We got engaged in April, just a few days after my 2nd nephew made his debut.
3. Shot my first wedding as the main photographer!! I was so thrilled to officially break into the wedding industry and bring my own personal touch on such a special day for my first couple.
4. Bought a new car – I had had my little silver bug since I was 18, so it was looong overdue! I love my new cube and I can fit so more people and more props for shoots inside!
win win
5. Saw NYC for the first time - and it was amazing! We spent the week of Thanksgiving in NYC with my future in-laws and my fiance’s brother and wife. I have just about 300 photos from our 6 days. We saw everything, including Chicago, Ellis Island, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and a man walking around with a cat sitting on his head. It’s true what they say; New York is like nothing else you’ll ever see.
2012 Goals
1. GET MARRIED! Ok, that’s not really a goal per se, but I had to have it
Just 8 short months away! Wow, the time flies so so quickly
2. Shoot my first Los Angeles wedding in May 2012! It’s going to be gorgeous and I can’t wait to see the Japanese Gardens for the first time
3. Blog more - Like, two times more than now. I once read that a blog is like a garden, and you need to water at least twice a week if you want to see growth and blooms. If this blog were any kind of garden, I would have it on the brink of death at the moment, and that’s going to change in 2012
4. Print photos for albums, much much more- I read a blog post recently (as soon as I find it, I’ll link it here. I read so many that I can’t remember where it was), and it was in regards to the digital age in photography and the forgotten world of albums. The author brought up a great point in regards to online photos. What if facebook was gone tomorrow? What if the internet was gone tomorrow? Where would your pictures be? Have you taken the time to print them out and place into albums? One of my favorite past times is looking through all of my grandparents albums, dating back to when they were kids. Who knows where facebook will be in 5 years, in 50 years from now! It’s time to bring back photo albums.
5. A 365 project – with a twist. Instead of using my big camera, I’ll be using my iPhone camera and take a picture a day for the next year. I’ll be posting to my fan page (CLICK HERE) via Instagram if you would like to follow and join in on the fun! I think it will be so cool to look back next January and see memories of the previous year. In fact, I plan on making an album out of the year to be able to see it forever, instead of just on an online platform
and because I know you want a little something to look, besides just text…here’s one of my favorite locations to shoot at.

Happy Wednesday!
